What Happens In Vegas Happens By Jacqueline Sebiane

Yesterday there was a raging fire at Bamboo Pool at The Cosmopolitan hotel in Vegas that left guests of the hotel scrambling for safety and on-lookers from neighboring hotels worried. The brave firefighters of the Clark County Fire Department acted swiftly to extinguish the fire preserving public safety and averting a number of tragedies that could have occurred had the fire spread.

I’ve been going to Las Vegas for many years and it has been a whirlwind. I have had some of the most memorable moments of my life in Vegas. I’ve met and had many relationships with men from all over the world, eaten in some of the best restaurants, luxuriated at some of the best pools and shopped my ass off. I’ve won very large amounts of money and I’ve lost bank too. I’ve fallen in love, laughed, cried, been elated, been devastated, been stressed, been pissed, been relaxed, couldn’t wait to go back and have sworn I would never go there again. I’ve been very disciplined and have made bad spur-of-the moment decisions too.

Vegas is an adult playground; a fantasy land that can be anything you want it to be. It is a place where people go to escape reality, be entertained, be pampered, relax, get wild, eat, shop and make interpersonal connections. And almost everyone there is trying to make some paper ($$$).

When I say I have seen and experienced it all in Vegas I mean it. One time I saw a man who was completely nude walking on the island of the street on Las Vegas Boulevard in broad daylight and no one flinched. Unbelievable! There is one thing I know for sure when it comes to Vegas… WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS HAPPENS contradictory to the popular mantra “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” There is also another saying which is more accurate… “Go to Vegas on vacation and leave on probation.” Those momentary experiences in Vegas could have consequences that have a lasting impact on your life. When people are in Vegas they think anything goes and that is simply not the case. The 24 hour gambling, the illusion that money is not an object, the illusion that time is non-existent, the free flowing alcoholic beverages, strangers willing to have a good time with you at the drop of a hat and easily accessible hotel rooms could all equal trouble. And men, beware of that good looking girl who is persistently soliciting your companionship.

Recently while in Vegas I had a romantic interlude with a British bloke who is a race car mechanic working in the motor sport race circuit with Bill Auberlen. It was bliss while it lasted but when I got home he turned out to be lacking in moral character making me wish I’d refrained from giving him any of my precious time and attention. The bad feeling I felt when I got home overshadowed any fun I had with him while in Vegas.

The purpose of this posting is to point out that Vegas can be so amazing. Go there and have a blast. Just remember to conduct yourself with decorum and self-respect.  The people you encounter in Vegas are real people and not play objects. The money you take to Vegas is real money. Know your limits and don’t get sucked into the vortex of excess that is Vegas.

The Mind Of An Athlete By Jacqueline Sebiane

While I was at the gym yesterday, I immediately hit the treadmill for a run. I have a very strong work ethic at the gym. I picked up that focus and determination from all the professional athletes I rubbed elbows with when I use to train at Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, CA. And you know something funny? My ex-lover/ex-friend BMW Motorsport Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen is the polar opposite of me in the gym. Bill is fast on the race track but very slow and unfocused in the gym. He and I have been going to the same gym(s) (more than one) for years. We met at Gold’s Gym in Redondo Beach, CA USA a very long time ago. That is where I first caught his attention as he use to stare at me day after day dripping in sweat while I worked out so hard.  I am obsessed with working out. It’s a big part of me but sometimes work and life prevent me from going to the gym. Anyhow, back to the tread mill. I usually run for 30 straight minutes progressively increasing the speed. Towards the end of my run I am running very fast until I am finished. Since I’ve been away from the gym for a time, this was very difficult yesterday. My energy stores were low and my muscles were not having it. Quitting was not an option but with each step there was great pain. There is always a lot going on at the gym but I tuned out everything around me and kept repeating to myself “push through it, push through it…” until I successfully finished my run.

When I got home later that evening, the ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Awards came on. I watched intently as professional athlete after professional athlete was acknowledged for their stellar performances in their respective sports. The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team was acknowledged as Best Team for winning the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. Amazing! UFC fighter Ronda Rousey won the Best Fighter award over Floyd Mayweather. What? Go Ronda. And Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Olympic great Bruce Jenner) was the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for having the balls (no pun intended) to recently transition into her authentic self despite worldwide public scrutiny. I use to do legal work for Speedo North America based in the UK and I had the privilege of working with multiple Olympic athletes, including Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time. What I am most impressed about with respect to professional athletes is their will, focus, strength and determination to push through adversity to excellence. Sports are really a metaphor for life. Those attributes and characteristics that professional athletes develop and apply while playing sports will help YOU get through life. Whatever your goals are and whatever obstacles you are facing, you can push through it. Tune out the noise, stay focused, believe in yourself and NEVER quit. Be courageous and carry on.

DIRTY Secrets: Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian

“Scott is a loser. Scott’s a drunk. Scott is out of control.” Those are just some of the ill-spirited comments being peppered all over the Internet about Scott Disick in response to his recent break-up with Kourtney Kardashian. Disick and Kardashian reportedly broke up over some pictures of Scott that surfaced of himself being romantic with another woman, celebrity stylist Chloe Bartoli, in Monte Carlo.

Today Scott posted a picture on Instagram of himself on a private plane on the way to Las Vegas for a personal appearance with the following comment: letthelordbewithyou “On the way @1oaklv but before I take off the 70's called so I had to pick up.” And Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner commented as follows: caitlyn_bruce_jenner “Self absorbed, loser!

The media’s portrayal of Scott, and consequently public opinion, is overwhelmingly negative. People have a visceral reaction to what they see or hear in the media (which is rarely objective) based on their own experiences and viewpoints. So, for instance, if you are a single mom or were raised by a single mom, you most likely would view Scott’s partying ways as reprehensible and offensive in relation to his family (i.e., Kourtney and her kids). If you are a man who is in an unhappy relationship you might relate to Scott’s obvious disdain for being controlled and constantly emasculated by Kourtney and understand his need to escape. If you have substance abuse problems, you may view Scott as someone who is in need of treatment. If you are a Psychologist, you understand that Scott is struggling with life issues (i.e., the death of both his parents, an identity crisis, etc.) and is acting out in a cry for help. Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner, who is a high achiever and has much regard for family, has no tolerance for Scott's behavior. What I think when I hear all of the stories about Scott is that he is a man who does not have a firm sense of self, is confused about life and is in an unhappy relationship. Top all of that off with fame, excess and public insults and you have a person who is in a lot of pain. I wish someone would take Scott under their wing and give him some guidance and love.

The Art of Richard MacDonald By Jacqueline Sebiane

This is a video of my favorite sculptor magically creating masterpieces in his studio. I first discovered the art of Richard MacDonald when I went to see "O" by Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio in Las Vegas years ago. Mr. MacDonald collaborated with Cirque du Soleil to create sculptures of the talented performers of the show and his art is on display in the corridor of the theatre. I remember being mesmerized by “O” and being in awe of Mr. MacDonald’s art leaving the show.

Richard MacDonald has an obvious God-given talent. What is your talent? Have you taken the time to explore your feelings and discover your talent? Are you living your life with passion and following your own path or are you living a life that someone else has imposed on you?

BMW Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen Goes Off On Nick Tandy At Daytona

Oh do I love this story about BMW Motorsport Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen. Bill only has one true fan and that is his daddy Gerd Auberlen. Thank you Motorsport.com for your story!

By: Motorsport.com, Editorial team 2015-01-24

GTLM stars “agree to disagree” over clash that costs BMW squad precious time in Rolex 24.

Daytona Beach, Fla - BMW’s Bill Auberlen launched a staggering verbal attack on GTLM rival Nick Tandy of Porsche after they collided in the early hours of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, forcing Auberlen’s car to lose a lap due to repairs.

"You have to be a complete idiot to do that, and that’s what he is."
- Auberlen on contact with Tandy

Auberlen and Tandy have history from previous incidents in Tudor United SportsCar events, but when interviewed by IMSA's radio service pit reporter, he vented his fury.

'Worst driver in this paddock'
“He’s the worst driver in this paddock,” Auberlen raged. “He’s never gone by without trying to hit me. He got straight into the wheel, which put the energy straight into the suspension. You have to be a complete idiot to do that, and that’s what he is. I’m really disappointed. Thanks Nick Tandy, you’re a great racing driver."

Tandy responded: “Must be one of mine and Bill’s agreements to disagree. I was passing him on the outside. His car twitched and he moved over half a lane and we touched wheels.”

Tandy not pleased with Corvettes

Tandy then voiced his discontent with the driving of the Corvettes, with whom he’d been battling for the lead earlier. He had a wild moment through the NASCAR tri-oval after trying to pass Oliver Gavin on the apron.

"Bill is pretty hot-headed at times, and he gets spun-out pretty easily,
so sometimes we’ve all just got to take a breath."
- Oliver Gavin on Auberlen's rant

“The fight with the Corvettes at the start was interesting, they were playing hard, it was a bit marginal,” said Tandy, whose car leads the class. “With the slipstream you get close on the straights, and you have to decide whether to pass or sit behind.”

Gavin told Motorsport.com of the incident: “I knew he was there, the team were telling me and we have a radar system, and I was unsure of what he was trying to do. I’m on the banking, right on the yellow line and I don’t know where he was going to go! I know with Nick that he does try some pretty outrageous moves and he’s pretty inventive sometimes."

Gavin not as critical of Tandy

When told of Auberlen’s quotes, Gavin said: “Nick is hard, a hard driver. He’s very skilled and he’s very hungry. Every now and then he does step over the line; he gave me a couple of taps. I kind of expect that from Nick."

“Bill is pretty hot-headed at times, and he gets spun-out pretty easily, so sometimes we’ve all just got to take a breath. It’s all fine by me.”

Ending My Relationship With BMW Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen

Below is how I ended my relationship with BMW Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen. Recently I heard from a race car mechanic who hails from the UK that Bill has a very bad reputation in the racing circuit. Knowing Bill as intimately as I do that came as no surprise to me. I am very spiritual though and I believe that Bill was not meant to be in my life. God has a different plan for me.

My Ex-Lover Music Producer Scott Humphrey With Tommy Lee

If you are a regular reader of my blog you know that I use to do legal work for Motley Crue but primarily for Tommy Lee. That is how I met Canadian music producer Scott Humphrey. I was sitting in the kitchen of Can-Am Music Studio with Tommy when Scott came in. Tommy said “this is my producer Scott” followed by "this is Jacqi." Within minutes the two were whispering and Scott had told Tommy that he wanted me. Tommy immediately asked me to go out with Scott. Within the hour Scott and I were driving to his town home on Sunset Plaza just off the famed Sunset strip to pick up some materials and the rest is history. What a whirlwind love affair that was. That relationship did not last, however, because where there is a world class rock-n-roll band there is also mayhem (like the tatoo across Tommy's torso) and that is simply not my thing. Scott's mood swings were extremely intense and totally contradictory to my peaceful demeanor.  I will be writing more about the intimate details of my relationship with Scott and what it was like to work for Tommy Lee in my autobiography.

Below is a video of Tommy and Scott who have been best friends for a long time. It's kind of special the way the two have stuck together for years through the rough times; especially dealing with Motley Crue's lead singer Vince Neil who really gave Scott a hard time while he produced music for Motley Crue.

Bruce Jenner Comes Out As Caitlyn Jenner

If you are a regular follower of my blog, you know that I was friends with the late Joe Gold; the original founder of Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, California.  I will be writing in detail about my crazy experiences at the renowned Gold’s Gym in my upcoming autobiography.  For purposes of this blog posting, however, I will share the following.  I use to be close friends with a prominent radio broadcaster named Frankie who was the star D.J. of WBLS radio station in New York.  Frankie lived in Beverly Hills on Mulholland Drive and gave me my first exposure to exotic Ferraris.  We use to work out together at Gold’s Gym, jump into one of his many Ferraris or his Rolls Royce and go eat. We either drove to the Good Earth Restaurant in Marina Del Rey or walked to the Rose Café (Arnold Schwarzenneger’s favorite) or the Firehouse (the body builders' hang out) which was on Main Street in Venice.  Anyone who knew Frankie knows that he spoke his mind.  And anyone who has ever been to Gold’s Gym knows that a large contingency of celebrities and pro athletes use to work out there.  That is where I use to see Bruce and Kris Jenner long before the Kardashian pop culture phenomenon existed.  At that time, Bruce was the famous one because of his success as an elite Olympic athlete. Little did I know that later in my legal career I would be working with numerous Olympic athletes; including Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time. Anyhow, on this one particular day Frankie and I were working out and Bruce Jenner came through the door wearing very short shorts and looking very feminine which caused everyone to stare and wonder. How haunting that memory is.

Unless you’ve been completely disconnected from the media, you most likely are aware that Bruce recently came out as a transgender woman.  I support and admire any person who has the courage to follow their own path in life.  Bruce’s new identity is Caitlyn Jenner.  Here is Caitlyn’s new Vanity Fair cover.

My Message To BMW Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen

My personal message to Bill:

You told me one too many lies and played one too many games still you cannot stay away, can you? You and I could NEVER be together because I am too smart and strong for you. You have to be with a dummy so you can get away with your games and PRETEND what is, isn't and what isn't, is. I know you will never forget me or our intimate history together but this song sums it up for me when it comes to you.  And guess what, I am still smiling and having a good life.  Kisses …

BMW Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen: Big Life, Little Man

Here is a glimpse of what it is like to be a race car driver and a glimpse of a day in the life of Bill Auberlen; a man from my past who I know very intimately and have for a very long time.  I will write more about that in my next posting.  For now, enjoy this video of the 2015 Long Beach Grand Prix; Tequila Patron Sports Car Showcase.

The Chase By Jacqueline Sebiane

Do you ever feel like you have to chase everyone and everything all the time?  I’ve been having a lot of revelations about life lately.  I’ve been reflecting back on my experiences and how those experiences made me feel at the time they happened and how I feel about those experiences now.  I’ve been soul searching in the quest for the meaning of my life.

I am a deep thinker and a very quiet person who is drawn to the ocean.  I am near the ocean almost every day… The Palos Verdes Peninsula, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica Beach, Malibu Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach.  I am always at the beach.  When I am at the edge of the ocean there is an effortless flow of energy that causes me to be still in the majestic beauty.  Sometimes a cool breeze blows through my long hair as the sun kisses my face or warms my back.  Most times spectacular clouds, the ocean eddies, a mysterious fog or a colorful sunset creates a picture-perfect scenery.  When I am gazing out at the ocean, my soul is transported to another place and an overwhelming sense of peace takes over me.  I feel very spiritual and connected to God when I am gazing out at the water and breathing in the pristine air. I have come to realize that I want to feel as good as I feel when I am at the beach all of the time. God did not intend for us to live our lives constantly chasing things and struggling against the universe.

Are you always upset, worried, stressed out or in a hurry?  Are you stuck in a rut or routine so much so that you lost touch with yourself? Are you spending a great deal of time trying to fix people, situations or things? Are you constantly looking for love or chasing a relationship that is not reciprocal? Are you relentlessly chasing money or your dreams? All of that is so exhausting. Be rooted in awareness and let all of that go.  Make a decision today to let your life flow harmoniously in alignment with the universe. Still practice a strong work ethic to meet your needs and work on your goals but let your life unfold naturally and you will most certainly experience inner peace.

Life, Death and Fitness Model Greg Plitt

On January 17, 2015 at approximately 4PM renown fitness model Greg Plitt was tragically killed by a moving train in Burbank, CA while he was filming footage for one of his projects.  It was reported that he tripped over the train tracks in front of an oncoming locomotive and his destiny unfolded.

I post information and images of death all the time on my blog.  I don’t do it to be morbid but rather because death is a part of life.  No living being can escape death and we must come to the realization that at some point we will all have to deal with death and face our own death.  Death is not scary to me.  It is a graceful transition from a physical presence to an intangible ascension into the heavens.  The time and manner of our death is a mystery of which only our creator is in control.

I was entirely inspired by Greg’s drive, determination and strength.  He was the epitome of physical perfection.  Not only was he a prominent fitness model but he broke fitness modeling records by being on the cover of a fitness magazine every month for five straight years.  It was his discipline and strong work ethic that got him the covers. Greg was also an actor, a motivational speaker and an entrepreneur. He was a graduate of West Point, a former U.S. Army Ranger, a U.S. Military Academy graduate, a former Company Commander in charge of over 180 soldiers, a two time All-American and three time state champion wrestler, a professional skydiver and a golf club champion. All of Greg's accomplishments were obtained through his own drive and hard work.

Greg’s legacy will live on with the message being that you can do what you set your mind to if you are willing to do the work.

This is an excerpt of a message Greg’s family posted to his website regarding his untimely death:

We are devastated over the loss of our son. Your messages have uplifted us and give us strength; we thank you for that.  Greg’s soul is now with our heavenly Father. May his spirit live on through his website and through each of you.  As we mourn and honor our son and brother, how prophetic his own words…

When you are wondering how do you go on? The better question is, how do you NOT go on? – Greg Plitt

There will be a public memorial service in Los Angeles on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2pm at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills. An additional service will be held in his hometown of Baltimore, MD the following week. Details will be shared as they are confirmed.

Life, Change and Divorce By Jacqueline Sebiane

Each person’s individual life is so interesting and poetic as events unfold in their natural order.  I literally just wrote an email to Giada De Laurentiis the other day to inform her that Tony Munafo, a good friend and business associate of her aunt Raffaella (“Raffi”) De Laurentiis, had just passed away.  When I worked for attorney Jake Bloom on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills a small percentage of my workload was administering legal affairs for Arnold Schwarzenneger with his nephew Patrick Knapp.  The majority of my work was administering legal affairs for Sylvester Stallone.  I got to travel to Italy at the time for the filming of a movie starring Sylvester Stallone at Cinecitta Movie Studio.   Giada’s aunt Raffi was the executive producer of the film and I remember laughing and hanging out with her on the set like it was just yesterday.  Little did I know when I was emailing Giada that she was experiencing her own serious life event.  It is only today that I learned that Giada is getting a divorce from her husband of eleven years Todd Thompson.

Giada is the host of her own show Giada At Home on the Food Network.  She is a major Food Network star. Viewers of the show all over the globe have been captivated by how adorable she is and her seemingly perfect life as she cooks for her family and friends at her beach front home in Malibu, California.

Don’t we all want the storybook life?  Don’t we all want to believe in the fantasy?  The reality is that change is inevitable.  Marriages fail because love, if it really existed in the first place, changes.  And people change.  Some people are willing to accept that while others throw in the towel on the quest for self discovery.  As you travel through the journey of life, be accepting of where your life is each day and savor the beautiful moments for they will not last.  Life is fleeting.  Appreciate each day for with every tomorrow will come change.

Disappointment By Jacqueline Sebiane

Have you ever been disappointed by a person, a situation or an experience? I am sure the answer is an overwhelming yes.  Sometimes things don’t turn out the way you want or expect them to.  Sometimes someone you like, love, trust or respect does something unsavory that forever changes your life or the way you feel about them.  Recently my friend of many years BMW Race Car Driver Bill Auberlen revealed an ugly side of himself to me that immediately changed the way I feel about him so much so that it caused me to end my relationship with him.  Sometimes your family or home life is a source of great pain rather than your safe haven.  Or sometimes you work really hard for something only to be knocked down in a moment by a person or event that causes you to regress rather than progress.  Don’t let disappointment cripple you or make you bitter.  Rest in the peace that everything happens just the way it is supposed to for your own evolution. Disappointment evokes thought and emotions that are often the catalyst for a change that redirects the course of your life.  It’s up to you to be rooted in awareness so you can recognize the messages that come out of life’s disappointments so you can make the right decisions for a full and meaningful life.

Your Dreams By Jacqueline Sebiane

So many people have become spectators of other people’s lives rather than being active participants in their own lives. Paying attention to every detail of celebrities’ lives has become a national past-time. People are hypnotically watching reality TV attentively observing others activities and interactions rather than being present in their own lives. Everybody is obsessed with their cell phones talking about everything/ nothing day and night and robotically sending/receiving text messages. Online dating and hook-ups  are the in thing nowadays rather than people experiencing the excitement of meeting someone new randomly while they are out living their life. And an inordinate amount of time is spent on other people’s Twitter, Instagram and/or Facebook accounts checking people out and posting comments.  Does anyone really have 500 plus friends just because they accept a Friend Request on Facebook?  I can barely keep up with a handful of people. How ridiculous. It’s important to have fun, watch mindless TV shows and do leisurely things sometimes just to take a mental break from the reality of your life but all of that is only healthy if it is done in moderation.

Have you wasted precious minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years of your life obsessing with social media, the Internet, TV, your cell phone and leisurely activity without working on your goals and developing your live interpersonal relationships?  Have you abandoned your dreams and stagnated in your career? Or worse yet, maybe you never took the time to pursue a career.  If the answer is yes, then this quote is for you.  It is one of my favorite quotes and it is powerful and thought-provoking.

You are what your deep driving desire is.
As your desire is, so is your will.
As your will is, so is your deed.
As your deed is, so is your destiny.

Jacqueline Sebiane Loves "A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay

I am passionate about music. I use to work at Sony Music where I became friends with Randy Jackson of American Idol while I was working in famed music producer Rick Rubin's office. I worked in A&R at EMI Music Publishing on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.  I helped produce a Rock and Roll special for documentary filmmaker Andrew Solt and even got a screen credit on VH1. And I used to work for an attorney who represented KISS and Motley Crue. That's how I met Gene Simmons and became involved with Tommy Lee. And I had an intense relationship with music producer Scott Humphrey famous for working with Rob Zombie. Scott is Tommy Lee's best friend. And Tommy was the matchmaker for me and Scott.  Why did I listen to Tommy. : )

Anyway, I am such an emotional person and music is my heart. This song by Coldplay is beautiful.  Sometimes you have a relationship with someone and it doesn’t work out for some reason or another.  Yet somehow the memory of that person still evokes strong emotions within you and leaves you with an inexplicable curiosity of what could have been. Or sometimes there is a certain someone who makes your heart beat a little faster than normal. Someone amazing that you can't get off your mind but who you've never told how you feel. This song is all of that.

A Word From Jacqueline Sebiane

This posting is directed to my global audience.  Thank you for taking time out of your life to visit my blog.  I am humbled by the fact that so many people from all around the world have taken an interest in me, my life experiences and the subject matter I have chosen to write about from my perspective.  If you are a repeat visitor here, you must have noticed that I have slowly started deleting postings and changing the direction of my blog.  I created this site in February of 2011 after a Redondo Beach firefighter did something outrageous to me and the Fire Chief and Mayor of Redondo Beach tried to cover it up.  I started blogging about it.  Then something incredible happened.  All of the feelings I had suppressed for so long about my life experiences, especially my dating life and life in Hollywood, surfaced and I just started writing much like a songwriter.  My experience with that Redondo Beach firefighter became the impetus for this blog, then entitled DIRTY Secrets, that became popular all around the world.  My blog was so popular that even my postings about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kim Kardashian, who are heavily Google searched, became #1 for a long time in the Google search engine.

My blog has been viewed in the following countries: The U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Guadeloupe, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Benin, Jamaica, Indonesia, Malaysia, French Polynesia, Fiji, Aruba, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Myanmar (Burma), Afghanistan, Botswana, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Morocco, Madagascar, Montenegro, Trinidad and Tobago, U.S. Virgin Islands, Egypt, Israel, Macedonia, Mauritius, Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Andorra, Angola, Bahrain, Belarus, Yemen, Qatar, Tunisia, Brunei, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Malawi and Martinique.  That is really incredible.

I obviously struck a chord with a lot of people.  And with that size of audience comes a huge responsibility not to hurt people nor to say anything that can have a negative impact on any individual or group.  It was always my intention to use my experiences and words of wisdom to help others. To have the attention of so many people all around the world is, to me, a privilege and I will use that privilege to elicit emotion, provoke thought and effect change.

The holidays are coming.  It’s time to slow down, reflect and celebrate life. While you are enjoying your blessings, please humble yourself and give a gift to someone in need.  A gift can be food, money, an article of clothing, a gesture of kindness (i.e., a hug, a kiss, a smile), forgiveness or simply a word of encouragement to someone experiencing physical or emotional pain.

September 11, 2001: A Day I Will Never Forget

Today is September 11, 2014; the 13th anniversary of 9/11.  It is a day I will never forget.  It is a day when fear and uncertainty took over the nation and the world. It is a day when all of our lives changed forever. That fateful day overwhelmingly proved that evil and hatred exists in the world.  How could anyone purposefully unleash death and destruction of such magnitude on innocent people?  Why?  What is so incredible about that day is that God placed two French filmmakers (Jules Naudet and Gedeon Naudet) there to record history on film. These two men were in NY to film a documentary on the firemen of Engine 7, Ladder 1 in lower Manhattan, NY. What these two brothers didn't know is that God was using them as a vehicle to capture the images and details of this indescribable act of terrorism in real time. What were you doing on September 11, 2001 when you first found out that terrorists had attacked America?  I remember it like it was yesterday.  I was working in the movie industry at Showtime Networks at the time.  I was in bed that morning, awoke suddenly and for no explainable reason immediately turned on the TV.  The image that appeared was a giant airliner, American Airlines flight 11, crashing into the north tower of the World Trade Center in NY.  The image was so graphic; especially for someone who’d just awaken from a peaceful sleep.  I sat up in my bed as my heart sank.  I immediately contacted my parents.  My first words were “something terrible has just happened.”  There was a knot in my throat and tears in my eyes.  I could barely speak.  I didn’t know the depth of what’d happened quite yet so I showered and drove to work.  The 405 freeway was empty at peak traffic hours and anyone who knows L.A. knows that is bizarre.  I got to work in Westwood, CA and no one was there.  It was haunting.  I drove back home so scared.

My father’s birthday is September 7th and my parents had been in Vegas.  They had called me on September 10th to tell me that they were staying for a few more days.  My parents and I always keep in touch as a precaution for safety reasons.  Again, for some unexplainable reason I felt that they should fly home and persuaded them to do so.  They flew home on the evening of September 10th just before the tragedy on September 11th.  Had I not persuaded them to fly home, they would have been stranded in Vegas at a terrifying time.  Recall that no planes were allowed to fly in the U.S. for a week after September 11, 2001.

I was living a perfect life in Los Angeles.  I was working in the movie industry, hobnobbing with movie stars, going to movie premieres, driving around in a nice BMW, going to fine restaurants and dating two good looking guys.  Yes, two!  9/11 brought my world to a screeching halt and was a pivotal moment in my life. I've never felt such deep emotions as I did on that day.  The events of 9/11 confirmed to me that life is fleeting and at any moment our lives can change or be taken away.  Terrorism, evil and hatred jeopardize everyone’s safety and security; not just that of Americans.  Go out in the world and do good deeds.  Give love and make each day count.  God bless.

The Good Life By Jacqueline Sebiane

Yesterday the news spread across the world that iconic actor/comedian Robin Williams passed away and today it came to light that his death was a suicide. God works in mysterious ways.  He often uses people who have achieved fame worldwide to spread profound messages.  How ironic that a legendary talent that made the world laugh was battling internal sorrow to the point that it led him to take his own life.  I believe the message is regardless of how you are feeling on the inside, take the time to laugh and be happy along the journey of your life.  Remember how actor Christopher Reeve, famous for his role as Superman, was stripped of all human strength after he became a paraplegic due to an equestrian accident.  His life's work was also used as a vehicle to send a message to the world that no man is invincible.  It is no mistake that Christopher Reeve was one of Robin Williams' best friends.

I saw Robin Williams once in person when I was working on a TV show in Hollywood called Real TV.  Comedian Keenan Ivory Wayans had his own show at the time on the studio lot, Hollywood Center Studios, and Dr. Drew Pinsky was also doing a show on the lot called Love Line. I am not sure why Robin was there I just remember I was leaving for the day and we made eye contact as I walked past him.  I tried to play it off as I’ve been in the presence of many big stars many times over but I do remember feeling that something special had just happened to me because I’d just seen Robin Williams up close and he'd said hi to me.

Don’t certain people, situations or life circumstances make us all feel down at times; especially those of us who experienced a traumatic childhood.  Pain is universal.  If you are feeling bad, do what you have to do to pick yourself back up and live a good life.

In Honor of the Police by Jacqueline Sebiane

I love this…

A PROCLAMATION BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Each year, America sets aside a week to salute the men and women who do the difficult, dangerous, and often thankless work of safeguarding our communities. Our Nation's peace officers embody the very idea of citizenship -- that along with our rights come responsibilities, both to ourselves and to others. During Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, we celebrate those who protect and serve us every minute of every day, and we honor the courageous officers who devoted themselves so fully to others that in the process they laid down their lives.

As we mourn the fallen, let us also remember how they lived. With unflinching commitment, they defended our schools and businesses. They guarded prisons; patrolled borders; and kept us safe at home, on the road, and as we went about our lives. To their families, we owe an unpayable debt. And to the men and women who carry their mission forward, we owe our unyielding support.

Our Nation has an obligation to ensure that as police officers face untold risks in the line of duty, we are doing whatever we can to protect them. This means providing all necessary resources so they can get the job done, hiring new officers where they are needed most, and investing in training to prepare those on the front lines for potentially deadly situations. It also means making reforms to curb senseless epidemics of violence that threaten law enforcement officers and haunt the neighborhoods they serve.

Just as police officers never let down their guard, we must never let slide our gratitude. We should extend our thanks not only in times of tragedy, but for every tragedy averted -- every accident avoided because a patrol officer took a drunk driver off the streets, every child made safer because a criminal was brought to justice, every life saved because police officers raced to the scene. In other words, we must show our gratitude every day.

By a joint resolution approved October 1, 1962, as amended (76 Stat. 676), and by Public Law 103-322, as amended (36 U.S.C. 136-137), the President has been authorized and requested to designate May 15 of each year as "Peace Officers Memorial Day" and the week in which it falls as "Police Week."

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 15, 2014, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 11 through May 17, 2014, as Police Week. I call upon all Americans to observe these events with appropriate ceremonies and activities. I also call on Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, officials of the other territories subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, and appropriate officials of all units of government, to direct that the flag be flown at half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day. I further encourage all Americans to display the flag at half-staff from their homes and businesses on that day.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this ninth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-eighth.

BARACK OBAMA

LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee: End Of Watch March 7, 2014

Today LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee of the LAPD's Hollywood Division was killed in the line of duty.  My heart aches every time I learn of a police officer being killed while protecting and/or serving the community.  In my posting of September 30, 2011 entitled Police and Fire Service Real Life Dangers I state the following: "Please be supportive of policemen and firemen; and the brave women in these professions.  They risk a lot everyday for very little in return.  They are the ones we turn to and rely on for help when an emergency situation presents itself."

Here is the official LAPD News Release:

NR14104rh/sm

Beverly Hills:  Today, an LAPD officer was killed during a traffic collision in the City of Beverly Hills. The accident also injured a second Los Angeles Police Officer.

Around 8 a.m. this morning, Hollywood Division Officer, Nicholas Lee and his partner were responding to an “unknown trouble” radio call in the City of Los Angeles when a large truck lost control and collided with their patrol car at Robert Lane and Loma Vista Drive in the city of Beverly Hills.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Officer Lee dead at scene and transported his partner to a local hospital.  The driver of the large truck was also taken to a hospital in critical condition.  Officer Lee’s partner officer and the truck driver are expected to survive their injuries.

Officer Lee leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.  Officers Lee was a 16 year veteran of the Department.  His past assignments include: Van Nuys Area, Wilshire Area and Hollywood Area and has received over 70 commendations.  Most recently Officer Lee was involved in sending a live birthday card video to a 7-year-old boy suffering from Leukemia.  This card can be view at http://youtu.be/0NlwHq5lKqY and https://vimeo.com/88196960

“Every day police officers put their lives on the line to uphold the law and keep our communities safe.  That is the harsh reality of police work and today that reality took its awful toll, the life of one of our best, Police Officer III Nick Lee.  Nick was a great cop.  His hard work, dedication and leadership helped mold young police officers into law enforcement professionals.  Nick's death is a great loss to our police family, all of law enforcement and the residents of Los Angeles.  I send my most sincere thoughts and prayers to his wife, two daughters, the entire Lee family and Nick’s surviving partner officer.  We will all get through this together and honor Nick’s memory.”

Chief of Police Charlie Beck

Jacqueline Sebiane's Thanksgiving 2013

This posting has a very important purpose so please keep reading.  It’s amazing to me that a blog I started to express myself and write about some of my life experiences struck a chord with so many people.  The birth of my blog came after some firefighters at the Redondo Beach Fire Department involved me in a sex scandal and the Fire Chief and Mayor of Redondo tried to cover it up.  I cannot believe that it turned into this.  My blog has reached a worldwide audience in the following countries: the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Guadeloupe, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Puerto Rico, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Benin, Jamaica, Indonesia, Malaysia, French Polynesia, Fiji, Aruba, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Myanmar (Burma), Afghanistan, Botswana, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Morocco, Madagascar, Montenegro, Trinidad and Tobago, U.S. Virgin Islands, Egypt, Israel, Macedonia, Mauritius, Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Andorra, Angola, Bahrain, Belarus, Yemen, Qatar, Tunisia, Brunei, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Malawi and Martinique.  This is very humbling.  And because my audience is so vast, I am taking this opportunity to make some thought-provoking statements and touch people in a meaningful way.

Today is Thanksgiving Day; a traditional American holiday.  This day has a different significance for everyone and it is spent in a variety of ways.  Some spend the entire day cooking to have a feast with family and/or friends.  Some go from house to house of friends and family to gorge on food.  Some spend time running in the local marathon.  Some spend the day shopping the relentlessly advertised sales.  And some people find meaning by serving food to the needy or homeless.  Regardless of how Americans spend this day, the purpose of the day is to be thankful.  I chose to spend this day in complete solitude enjoying my favorite things and contemplating life.  This morning as I enjoyed a spinach & cheese bagel and dark roast coffee on the outdoor patio of my favorite coffee shop there was a moment where I felt complete bliss.  The sky was pristine with fluffy white clouds and the cool wind was blowing through my hair.  I was facing away from the sun which was warming my back as I gazed into the reflection in the window.  I could see this perfect image of the empty road, trees, blue sky and country-like store fronts.  It was so perfect it looked like a painting.  I sat there in silence deep in thought with my expensive cashmere scarf wrapped snuggly around my neck.  I realized at that moment how blessed I truly am.  I have food to eat and water to drink.  I have a home to live in, a warm bed to sleep in and a car to drive.  I have money to spend and a way to earn money.  I can walk.  I can see.  And I have a healthy functioning brain.  I am disease free.  And both of my parents are alive.  My list of blessings is long.  I realize that there are people who have no home, no food, no water, little or no money and no opportunity to make money.  Some people have cancer or other serious diseases.  Some are suffering in the hospital.  Some are addicted to drugs.  There are people who are mentally disabled.  And people who are experiencing deep physical or emotional pain.

Please take this moment to reflect on your life and your blessings.  Don’t let the things you want make you forget the things that you have.  Please make an effort to help someone in need.  There are people suffering all around the world and you have the power effectuate a change.  What seems like an insignificant gesture of kindness can have a significant impact on someone in need.  God bless you and thank you for reading my blog.
