If you are a regular follower
of my blog, you know that I was friends with the late Joe Gold; the original
founder of Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, California. I will be writing in detail about my crazy experiences
at the renowned Gold’s Gym in my upcoming autobiography. For purposes of this blog posting, however, I
will share the following. I use to be close friends with a prominent radio broadcaster named Frankie who was the
star D.J. of WBLS radio station in New York.
Frankie lived in Beverly Hills on Mulholland Drive and gave me my first
exposure to exotic Ferraris. We use to
work out together at Gold’s Gym, jump into one of his many Ferraris or his Rolls
Royce and go eat. We either drove to
the Good Earth Restaurant in Marina Del Rey or walked to the Rose Café (Arnold
Schwarzenneger’s favorite) or the Firehouse (the body builders' hang out) which
was on Main Street in Venice. Anyone who
knew Frankie knows that he spoke his mind.
And anyone who has ever been to Gold’s Gym knows that a large
contingency of celebrities and pro athletes use to work out there. That is where I use to see Bruce and Kris
Jenner long before the Kardashian pop culture phenomenon existed. At that time, Bruce was the famous one
because of his success as an elite Olympic athlete. Little did I know that later in my legal career I would be working with numerous Olympic athletes; including Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time. Anyhow, on this one particular day Frankie and I were working out and Bruce Jenner came through the door wearing very short shorts and looking very feminine which caused everyone to
stare and wonder. How haunting
that memory is.
Unless you’ve been completely
disconnected from the media, you most likely are aware that Bruce recently came out
as a transgender woman. I support and admire any
person who has the courage to follow their own path in life. Bruce’s new identity is Caitlyn Jenner. Here is Caitlyn’s new Vanity Fair cover.
