On January
17, 2015 at approximately 4PM renown fitness model Greg Plitt was tragically killed
by a moving train in Burbank, CA while he was filming footage for one of his
projects. It was reported that he
tripped over the train tracks in front of an oncoming locomotive and his
destiny unfolded.
I post information
and images of death all the time on my blog.
I don’t do it to be morbid but rather because death is a part of life. No living being can escape death and we must
come to the realization that at some point we will all have to deal with death
and face our own death. Death is not
scary to me. It is a graceful transition from
a physical presence to an intangible ascension into the heavens. The time and manner of our death is a mystery
of which only our creator is in control.
I was
entirely inspired by Greg’s drive, determination and strength. He was the epitome of physical
perfection. Not only was he a prominent
fitness model but he broke fitness modeling records by being on the cover of a
fitness magazine every month for five straight years. It was his discipline and strong work ethic
that got him the covers. Greg was also an actor, a motivational speaker and an entrepreneur. He was a graduate of West Point, a former U.S. Army Ranger, a U.S. Military Academy graduate, a former Company Commander in charge of over 180 soldiers, a two time All-American and three time state champion wrestler, a professional skydiver and a golf club champion. All of Greg's accomplishments were obtained through his own drive and hard work.
Greg’s legacy will live on with the message being that you
can do what you set your mind to if you are willing to do the work.
This is an excerpt of a message Greg’s family posted to his
website regarding his untimely death:
We are devastated over the loss of our son. Your messages have uplifted
us and give us strength; we thank you for that.
Greg’s soul is now with our heavenly Father. May his spirit live on
through his website and through each of you. As we mourn and honor our son and brother, how
prophetic his own words…
When you are wondering how do you go on? The better
question is, how do you NOT go on? – Greg Plitt
There will be a public memorial service in Los Angeles on Saturday,
January 24, 2015 at 2pm at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills. An
additional service will be held in his hometown of Baltimore, MD the following
week. Details will be shared as they are confirmed.
