Party Time At Muscle Beach In Venice, California USA

Time to hang out with my good friend Lee Priest.

Congratulations Lee for the upcoming recognition for something you love so much and are damn good at; even though you criticized my abdominal crunch techniques on the yard at World Gym Venice years ago. Remember ya damn bastard? Ha ha. See you soon brother. Love you!

Lee Priest: Perspective And Mind Over Matter For The Competitive Edge

My close friend for life Lee Priest puts competitive bodybuilding in its proper perspective. He and I bonded very closely years ago over our mutual boldness to speak our minds, our unwillingness to be silenced, our mental strength and our love for transformation through lifting weights.

The Kobe Bryant Memorial Service At Staples Center Los Angeles

To my worldwide audience, this is the video of the memorial service of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his young daughter Gianna Bryant that took place today in Los Angeles, California USA. If you did not watch it on TV, watch it now. If you have watched it already, re-watch it. What is the message or messages you are receiving as you take in the totality of this story?

I believe that God uses the life of celebrities and well known people to convey messages to the masses. When something happens to a well known person as opposed to a person who is not well known, the event that occurred puts a vast and immediate spotlight either on the subject matter related to the event or that caused the event (e.g., drug use, murder, terminal illness, catastrophic accidents, etc.). And as a consequence of the event, the life and/or life choices of the well known person are put into focus by the media to the masses.

Kobe Bryant was just a young boy whose interest morphed into a passion that he methodically honed into a talent through hard work and focused determination. His journey along the way is the real story as partially eloquently portrayed in his Oscar Award winning animated short film Dear Basketball that he penned (i.e., wrote). His incredible basketball career, albeit the center of the story, is only partially the story of his life journey. In his personal life, the love he had for the family he created and the lessons he learned as a result is the rest of the story. It is no mistake that Kobe had four daughters instead of sons. If Kobe had fathered a son, the story would have been too predictable. It was God's plan to bring worldwide attention to the disparity in rights and privileges of men over women by using Kobe's status as a girl dad, his celebrity and his basketball fame as the platform. It was God's plan to use Kobe's celebrity to bring attention to the importance of compassion, love and family. It was God's plan to use Kobe's path to his stellar career through Kobe's voice and through his story as an instrument of hope and inspiration for the lost, hopeless, self-doubters and anyone feeling less than.

So when you ask yourself why, know that everything, and I mean everything, is according to God's plan. Kobe Bryant was God's soldier fighting the good fight and what we perceive as an untimely death is really just Kobe Bryant's tour of duty coming to an end. His death is the event that put the spotlight on all of God's messages that I wrote about here today.

I'll Be The Greatest Fan Of Your Life

This is a beautiful, meaningful love song and one of my favorite songs of all time. If someone loves you like this, don’t ever take it for granted. And if you love someone so much it hurts and feels good at the same time, hold on to that special feeling forever. I loved music producer Scott B. Humphrey like this but at the time he loved drugs, the Rock N Roll lifestyle and his friendship with Tommy Lee of Motley Crue more than he loved me. And after all, Tommy Lee is the one who introduced me to Scott at Can Am Recording Studio in the first place. "Jacqibone" (Tommy gave me that nickname) "date my friend" he said. And that I did. Scottie and I had our time but it was dramatic, short lived and fleeting so I let it go. And here I sit, writing this blog posting...

There are so many different types of love: self-love, spiritual love, romantic love, parent/child love, family love, friendship love, the love you have for your pets, etc. In the end, all that matters is love. Even when someone you love has passed away, that beautiful love stays with you.

Sending love to all my readers this week in the USA, Canada, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Czechia, Russia, Ukraine, Netherlands, France, Ireland, Portugal, Indonesia and the U.K.

Happy Valentine's Day.

A Healthy Functioning Heart Is A Blessing

In 2015 after my beautiful, late father had a severe ischemic stroke, I would put my ear to his heart just to listen to his heartbeat. It was my way of connecting my soul with his knowing that things were not good.

I am a proponent for health, education and research as well as advances in medical technology. Most people do not care about medical research until something goes wrong with their body or the body of someone they love. So let's stop spending so much time taking and admiring egotistical selfies and allocate some time to things that actually matter for the betterment of society and humanity.

A Piece Of My Hollywood Life With Comedian John Witherspoon

World audience, I have had this incredible, unbelievable journey here in Los Angeles, California USA; a journey that most would only dream of. And much of my journey includes a personal and professional life surrounded by and involved with the rich and famous. Why is it unbelievable? It is because I am just a regular person who went to college, works and was born of immigrant parents from very humble beginnings who endured many hardships so I could have a better life. To my longtime friend Patrick Knapp (Schwarzenegger), I know your proud journey from Austria to American Citizenship because my parents had a similar journey from Costa Rica to American Citizenship by proper legal process. Despite my humble beginnings, I still found myself in Italy with Sylvester Stallone and crew for the filming of a motion picture, in deep conversations and laughter with Rock Star Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, flirting with Rock Star Gene Simmons of KISS, dancing on stage with R&B legend Eddie Levert of the O'Jays and countless other experiences you will read about one day in my upcoming autobiography. And one of my best Hollywood experiences was my friendship with actor/comedian John Witherspoon who I sadly found out while watching the Oscars last night passed away recently of a heart attack. I met John "Pops" Witherspoon years ago at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, CA USA while I was traveling on the comedy circuit with actor/comedian Jimmy "JJ" Walker. Jimmy had gotten on my nerves that night so I told him off and as I was walking out the door of the Laugh Factory I said "I need a cab." And there was John Witherspoon waiting for the valet to bring his black Range Rover around and laughing his ass off saying "No you didn't tell that little ugly man off. Baby, I'll take you anywhere you need to go." And there began my very close friendship with John Witherspoon; the best friend of famed talk show host David Letterman.

I will write more about my close friendship with John Witherspoon in my upcoming book. For now, rest in eternal peace "pops". I will never forget the fun and laughter you brought into my life, to your peers and to the millions of fans who watched you perform on stage, on TV and on the big screen.
